The novel football challenge between All-Ireland football champions Kerry and their hurling counterparts Cork, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday evening in Pairc Ui Rinn, has been called off.
The game, which was organised to raise funds for the holiday fund of both counties, was postponed due to the unavailability of a number of Kerry players who will be on club duty at the weekend.
A disappointed Cork chairman Jim Forbes said: "It was a novel idea which had provoked a lot of interest among the Cork hurlers. Unfortunately, it won’t take place this side of Christmas and is likely to fall by the wayside."
Kerry chairman Sean Walsh noted: "Our divisional championships are running late and it would be impossible to field a team worthy of the occasion."
