Graham Whelton.....
Graham Whelton writes on he's passion - Cork GAA.

The following is a list of articles written by Graham Whelton:
  • Can Cork capture national football league in 2010 - Sunday, February 07, 2010

  • The start of the GAA season begins in earnest this week with the start of the Allianz National Football League . The question on many Cork Fans lips, how will the team management use the League with a view to the Championship? read on >>
  • Its Now Or Never for the Cork Footballers - Wednesday, September 16, 2009

  • Its “ Now Or Never “ for the Cork Footballers to end the County’s famine of going 19 years without an All Ireland Title. The fact that its our fiercest neighbours Kerry that lie in wait to be beaten adds to the spice of the occasion. When Larry Tompkins climbed the steps of the Hogan Stand to lift Sam Maquire in 1990, that Cork Team put to bed a side in Meath that a bit of hoodoo both on the field and in the head of Cork’s Footballers, the same now can be said of the opposition that lie in wait for us on Sept 20th. read on >>
  • Can anyone stop the cats from 4 in a row - Tuesday, June 02, 2009

  • Now that the race has started for Liam McCarthy in September, can any County realistically stop Kilkenny achieving an historic four in a row. The pundits view is that Tipperary are the side that could halt the Cats and given that both sides are hot favourites to win their Provincial Crowns, they would be on course to meet each other in the final. read on >>
  • Whats Cork's best 15 to topple Tipp? - Tuesday, May 19, 2009

  • With only just two weeks to the trip to Tipp to take on Munster Champions, Tipperary, and most peoples opinion of the nearside side to threaten Kilkenny’s four in a row, what is Cork’s best 15 to take on Tipperary? read on >>
  • All we want for christmas is our hurlers back - Monday, December 22, 2008

  • What a year its been in the fortunes of Cork GAA!! It is ending the same way it ended in 2007, in stalemate. 2009 will also start like 2008, with this time calls on the Hurling Manager to step aside. read on >>
  • Now to tame the Cats - Tuesday, July 29, 2008

  • Coming out of Pairc Ui Chaoimh at 3.30 pm on the 8th June 2008 after the defeat to Tipperary, not too many people would have forecasted the transformation in the team’s fortunes and drastic improvement since then. While many people who earn a living out of the media covering the world of Gaelic games have been lambasted by the Cork team’s management for questioning the desire and the hunger of this Cork side to bounce back from the defeat to Tipperary. Contributors to this website also questioned the above but did so on the grounds that this team owed its adoring supporters nothing and remembered the great hours of enjoyment they have given us. read on >>
  • Last Stand for Team of 1999 - Friday, July 18, 2008

  • Has there ever been so much pessimism amongst Cork Hurling supporters than there is at the moment for the do or die fixture against Galway on Saturday night. Readers and Contributors of this Website are at 60/40 against Cork making it to Croke Park. The last time the Cork Hurlers failed to make it to headquarters for a knockout game was in 2002 as a result to a lack lustre defeat to Galway. This defeat marked a low point for many of the younger generation of Cork supporters ant it was a day that brought a lot of things to a head in terms of how future Cork Teams would be treated by the Cork County Board. read on >>
  • Where to now for the Cork Hurlers - Tuesday, June 10, 2008

  • If Cork are to be crowned All Ireland Winners this September five matches will have to be now won following the defeat to Tipperary in the Munster Hurling Semi Final. This looks to be a very tall order now for the Rebels considering the performance against the Premier County and considering the age profile of one half of the team and the inexperience of the rest of the squad. read on >>
  • All-Ireland Hurling 2008 Preview - Thursday, May 29, 2008

  • The race to win the Liam McCarthy Cup in 2008 has started and can anyone stop Kilkenny from achieving for them a historic three in a row. Both Kilkenny and Kerry are chasing a three in a row and the bookmakers make the Cats the warmer of the two favourites for glory in September. Is this a fair assessment by the Turf Accountants of Ireland? To this Writers eye, there seems to be more teams good enough to thwart Kilkenny than Kerry. In the hurling championship Galway, Cork, Tipperary and possibly Waterford are a decent threat to Kilkenny and in the football who apart from Dublin and their advantage of playing in Croke Park can realistically stop Kerry. read on >>
  • Cork Senior Hurling Championship Preview - Friday, May 09, 2008

  • Cork’s little All Ireland, the Cork County Senior Hurling Championship has got underway for 2008. Who are the contenders for Cork’s biggest prize in club hurling? Erins Own are chasing an another County to make it three in a row and with their side being relatively young and devoid of a major distraction of gaelic football should go very close to retaining their crown. Newtownshandrum who were very disappointing in losing last years final are fancied by many to redeem themselves in 2008. However with the latter stages of the competition now almost being exclusively played when Cork have exited the Championship, what condition will Ben and Jerry O Connor be in by then, remember both were limited by injury in last years final against Erins Own. Many people feel that maybe Cloyne’s chance of a County may have slipped by but with Paudie O’Sullivan back from injury and Donal O’Grady also being involved at some level they could have one final kick in them, they face Glen Rovers in the first round and that could be the game of the round. read on >>
  • What will the starting line be come June 8th? - Wednesday, April 30, 2008

  • With June 8th drawing closer and closer the main talk among Cork Hurling supporters is, what will be the starting fifteen against the old enemy and recently crowned league champions Tipperary. The main consensus among fans is that the team will be very similar to the one last year that bowed out at the quarter final stage even though they still took part in seven games. read on >>
